Our story
Camerons Lawyers has served the Goulburn Valley for 137 years — longer than Shepparton has had electricity, paved roads, or a railway line.
The firm was founded in 1887 by John Sutherland, a Scottish-trained lawyer who travelled to Australia and set up one of the first legal practices in Northern Victoria. His original offices were on the corner of Maude and Stewart Streets.
In 1921, Sutherland formed a partnership with Frank Cameron — and the Cameron name became synonymous with law in the region. Frank's sons Bruce and Graeme joined in the 1950s, and the practice moved to Fraser Street as "Cameron & Cameron."
Today the firm operates from 128 Maude Street as Camerons Lawyers Pty Ltd, led by directors Jayne Law, Owen Lai, Melissa Pace, and Simon Burke. The team of fourteen combines professional rigour with genuine regional knowledge — the kind that comes only from being part of a community for over a century.

A timeline
John Sutherland, admitted to practice in Scotland, establishes one of the first law firms in Northern Victoria. The original offices sit on the corner of Maude and Stewart Streets in Shepparton.
Sutherland forms a partnership with Frank Cameron. The firm becomes "Sutherland & Cameron" — and the Cameron name enters Goulburn Valley legal history.
Frank's sons Bruce (1950) and Graeme (1953) join the partnership, now known as "Cameron & Cameron." The practice relocates to offices on Fraser Street.
